This might be a low level noob question, and I apologize.
I have an existing folder structure, which is in Windows as:
C:\Root\ClientName\ProjectName\ with lots of subfolders for different assets.
My Razuna root is mapped as /mnt/web which is a NFS share.
Within Razuna, if I make a folder called Temp, it makes me a folder in /mnt/web but the foldername is 2 for instance. While this is great for Razuna, it is bad for my humans. So what I did then was I manually created a temp folder in /mnt/web/temp and created a new folder in Razuna. I then selected the link source, and put in /mnt/web/temp. When I upload into temp, it still uploads the files into the 2 directory.
I guess the end goal for me here is to use Razuna 100%, but also to have a navigable folder system underneath, which I will sync to other PCs. The reason for this is that often times I need to open and close design files 10 at a time, and doing this from within Razuna might not be efficient.
Any way to create a physical folder structure and use it in Razuna?
While going through the options, I see the tasks and import. Would it be better to keep my folder structure the same and have Razuna import everything? The downside is that I would have 2 copies of the file, which is what I am trying to avoid...
Hmm, when this is done the pictures and such are handled differently:
/mnt/client_images/CWST Pictures/Ukrop Soccer Park Jun 14/DSC_0227.JPG Images that are located on a external source can not be shown in the browser.
Is one instance of a difference. So even though this folder is mounted INSIDE the Razuna root, it is considered an external file because it is linked instead of imported into the DB.
Do you have and recommendations for local workflow? Here is the situation: We have a logo file, stored in Razuna. One of our designers need to change some colors- based on my understanding the designer would DL the file, make changes, then upload a second version of the file. Since the file was not changed inside Razuna, I am not sure if this would be a new file or a version or what.
What is the best way to keep all of our assets inside of Razuna, while still allowing for quick local editing if possible- whats your recommendation here?
Right now we have a Sync directory and use BitTorrent Sync to sync it to all designer PCs. When someone edits it, they open up the file and make changes and save it anew. Problem is keeping track of who is doing what is tough, as is keeping file sized and names in order. Trying to solve all of this with Razuna.
As stated in my previous reply, if you want to keep a local directory in
sync within Razuna, you can use the linked folder option. Another one is
to create a watch folder and Razuna will automatically import the files.
It is correct that *original* of a linked file does not show in the
browser (that is a security configuration of a web server to not show
files outside of the root). Therefore, Razuna creates the thumbnail
for you (stored in Razuna) and one should create renditions (stored in
Razuna) in order to serve them to the browser.
Most likely this approach will not change with any future release
as many of our customers use Razuna in this way. The only new addition
will be to update the linked folder automatically within Razuna.
