Razuna announces the release of version 1.6 of its open source, cloud-based digital asset management software. Release 1.6 has been underway for a year and contains more than 400 improvements, making it one of the company’s most comprehensive releases to date.
The focus for this release has been on enterprise features and performance tuning. New core features have dramatically improved upload times, and indexing features have been completely rewritten. In addition, a number of new API calls have been added to support Razuna’s growing network of OEM partners and web developers. Razuna 1.6 fully supports LDAP authentication allowing organizations to setup single-sign on with their backend systems.
“Razuna is famous for its simplicity and intuitive user interface. As we follow a path toward a more feature packed enterprise platform, we need to constantly think about how we implement new features while maintaining the overall simplicity of the system,” says Founder and CTO, Nitai Aventaggiato.
“We believe we have done a good job of adding new powerful features, which cater for the avid user while avoiding clutter for the more basic users,” says Nitai. “One of the most prominent features is “Smartfolders” – allowing users to save and share searches as well as connecting Razuna to their Dropbox account and Amazon S3 buckets. We have also improved stability and performance tremendously. On top of all this, the famed Razuna API has been greatly extended to the benefit of customers and many of our partners. Additionally, we are introducing the Razuna Plugin-Architecture. In short, it allows developers to write their own plugins for Razuna, thus extending the core even further. The new Workflow-Plugin is a perfect example how Razuna can be extended!”
“Since 2011, we have increased our revenue by 4000%, which goes to prove that Razuna is a platform to be reckoned with,” says CEO, Jens Strandbygaard. “The proof of concept is that we have signed up many System Integration partners and reseller partners in Europe, the Middle East and the USA. We’re really proud to see that our endeavors to disrupt the digital media space with our commercially viable open source offering is successful.”
Razuna’s partner program was announced in October 2012 and has already attracted resellers and OEM software vendors from around the globe. Some rebrand and resell Razuna as their own Digital Asset Management platform, whereas others integrate and embed Razuna into their software.
“Razuna has been embedded into a number of comprehensive software platforms from Product Information Management (PIM) to Content Management Systems (CMS) to marketing management platforms,” says Jens Strandbygaard. “Some of these vendors are Fortune 500 customers with extensive needs for fast performance and response times. To meet the requirements of our Enterprise customers, we have extensively tested performance on various platforms. Our goal has been to optimize speed and performance, and I can only say that we have succeeded.”
